Born Francesco Bernardone, St. Francis of Assisi was a man of the middle ages and became a saint for all ages. As a herald of the Gospel, he proclaimed love for all creation through poverty, humility and compassion. His extraordinary blend of spirit and humanity has given the world a rich taste of joy and fullness of life. We thank you, from Old Mission San Miguel, for choosing our wine. May this “fruit of the vine” bring a foretaste and hunger for the fullness in spiritual fruits of St. Francis. As the first friars came to California establishing the early Mission system, they carried the Franciscan message of love and peace. Today, let this same proclamation be made again. Through the intercession of St. Michael the Archangel, our patron, may all be given this message of hope under his special protection, guidance and peace. May we become the wine that fills our “cup of blessing” following in the footprints of Francis of Assisi.
This bounteous wine hearkens to the senses to enjoy the Creator’s wisdom. Be comforted by aromas of Mission fig, Asian sandalwood and the dust of a friar’s trek through raspberry patches. Let stewed Heirloom tomatoes and coriander guide you to the market, where exotic velvets surround you amid the cries of vendors purveying truffles from shadowy forests. Clutch an ancient, leather-bound journal as you seek a cool rock upon which to perch and chronicle this glorious find.
