Our Family

Our story is one of commitment, passion and patience, a story, which is still being written today. As a family owned and operated winery, Louis and Raynette Gregory, founders and current co-proprietors of Locatelli Vineyards & Winery, needed additional assistance with the many demands of running a winery and vineyard. Mark and Jeffrey Gruber, brothers and cousins of Raynette, were looking to get involved in the wine business as they shared a love of wine and of the vine. It was a natural fit for the family members to be added to the mix as they joined the team in early 2008.Today, all four of the partners tackle the workload through this cohesive family unit. Louis Gregory, the winemaker, has over 10 years experience. Raynette takes care of marketing and the tasting room. Mark assists with marketing and project management while Jeffrey handles maintenance and winery improvements. All work together for the common goal of --- Excellence in wine.
Several years before the partnership began, Louis & Raynette Gregory, purchased their 100-acre property just north of Paso Robles; a beautiful piece of land that overlooks the Salinas River and Mission San Miguel. The year was 1996, and although this wasn’t long ago, Paso Robles was just on the cusp of developing as an international winegrowing region. With the help of Raynette’s father, Reuben Gruber, the property was transformed from cattle land to 40 acres of premium wine grapes. Then in 2001, the Gregorys closed their engineering business in Visalia and moved their young family permanently to the property. Their venture, which started as Locatelli Vineyards, was then renamed to Locatelli Vineyards & Winery.
The vineyards and winery are named after Louis’ Great Grandfather, Cesare Locatelli, as a tribute to him, our heritage, and the many others who have come before us in making the long journey to America. Click here to read Our Heritage.
